Character/Personality 2: Personality manifests character [A11]

At this point, however, something comes into play that affects the character and in some way transforms the way of representing oneself within the physical world: this is what we define as "personality", or the manifestation of character within the physical world.

So the thing is very simplistic, so let's try to think – for those who are a little more inside the Teaching – about why and how this personality is being formed. You will easily say: "a person's personality is being formed over time depending on how their parents are, how their friends are, how they are in contact with certain people instead of others and this agrees perfectly with those which are the psychological knowledge studied and deepened over the years by various psychologists.

Then a the influence of the environment on character of people, the influence of experiences on people's character, the influence even of the knowledge of things studied or learned in the course of life – even from a simply cultural point of view – which contribute to forming the individual's personality type; but let us remember that, however it may be, it is always connected and linked to the basic character of the individual.

Certainly there are other influences; just as, as regards the character - being the basis of the constitution of the individual - there is the influence of what we have called «imprinting» which certainly bears a trace of what are non-human experiences within human experiences, in the same way there are gods influencing external elements the constitution of the personality. It is not only a matter that concerns the interiority of the individual, but it is a matter that concerns theinterchange between the individual and reality.

  • Readings for the interior: every day a short spiritual reading of the Cerchio Ifior and the Cerchio Firenze 77, up Whatsapp and Telegram.
  • Summary of the philosophical teaching of the Ifior Circle: HOW CONSCIOUSNESS CREATES PERSONAL REALITY, you can order here the book. If you're reading this and want support, write.

You should know by heart the answer on what are these elements that contribute to modifying or modulating the interchange between individual and reality; someone whispered «the archetypes», which however is a little too generic: the transient archetypes or permanents? Which are most important for the constitution of personality?

Let's say, without shadow of doubt, the personality of the individual, referring to the environment that the individual frequents, is more easily directly influenced by those who are the transient archetypes, as it is to the transitory archetypes that the incarnate individual, with his personality, his actions, with his movement within the reality of the physical plane, refers.

Certainly, there is also a certain part of reference to what are the transpositions on the human social level of the permanent archetypes – such as universal brotherhood, love – but let's say that they are concepts that are so incomprehensible in everyday reality that those that have the most strength to produce influences and modifications within the individual's personality are precisely the transitory archetypes; Indeed it is the transitory archetypes that form all the nuances of each personality and they allow her to interact – as I said before – within the experiences she lives.

D - If io I was born with a certain personality because I have to have certain experiences, and yet I know that my character also goes a bit against what the Teaching says because it leads me to wrong behaviors...

Consider that you have this basis which is more or less fixed (the character, ed), except when you have an understanding and then, at that point, it happens that the understanding is inscribed in the body of consciousness, which has understood something, consequently the feel it changes.

Feeling is what affects your DNA and, therefore, having understood something, even some genes in your DNA will stop working or will work differently; and then there will be a transformation of characteralbeit light.
But this only happens when there is some understanding; without some understanding your character will continue to be what you started out with throughout your life.

What will change, however, without a shadow of a doubt, will be your personality over time; because, based on the character you will have, the influences you will have, the reasoning you will make, the thoughts, emotions, desires and all the elements that will try to influence you and help you to have experiences, will lead to transform your personality acting differently on what is your character; so that your character it will manifest in a different way. You may not have changed, because your character will not have changed entirely in the end, but your behavior will no doubt be different.

And this is an important point, because, all in all, it can justify the fact that we say that very often the important thing is that you act, facades, because it means that provide elements not only to your feeling but also to your personality; therefore you will be able to change your way of behaving, perhaps you will help someone not so much because you feel you are helping them, because your character has not yet understood it, but because you have to make yourself beautiful in the eyes of others.

However, this does not mean that, in order to be able to carry on your experiences, your relationships with others will be governed by how you behave with others, not by your character; therefore it is important that you try to do according to your personality what you feel, which you think is better and more right to do. It's a complicated matter, this…

D - Going back to the subject of character change, although it is true that something changes - I can see it by looking back at how my life has been - but it is so by nuances, or by degrees, that in the end it is as if it did not happen , this kind of character change is not noticeable.

Not always, let's take a striking example: let's suppose that one of you has, as a character, as a typical element of the character, a strong predisposition to painting. It could happen, this is typical; they always say: «This person is predisposed to music, or to painting, or to writing» or whatever you want.
Now, this person will therefore be led towards that type of artistic experience, he will necessarily have to face it because that should be the path, written already genetically, guided by his feelings; will have to be the way to go to bring elements to hear about her.

The character that will be formed on this thrust will be more or less tormented, more or less fluid, more or less happy, more or less satisfied, and it could also happen that, at the end of a series of experiences made, the individual manages to put aside this drive towards the desire to paint. Why could this happen?
It could happen that that type of experience has taught him everything it had to teach him and, therefore, there will no longer be the strong push of feeling that will influence his character to the point of inducing him to have that experience in this field.

What happens to this feature? Will this peculiarity of his character disappear? Not at all; this characteristic will simply be dampened, so much so that it can then come to light if only the individual wants it to come to light again, he will have an interest in some other reason to bring it to light.

D – I can give an example: something like this happened to me with football, let's say that my youth was characterized by perhaps extreme passion for football, so much so that I practiced it at a competitive level, then I was also a coach and, at a certain point, now, I watch matches and I get bored, unless there's something I like from an aesthetic point of view, like as a coach or something particular that, at the time, made me passionate all the same.

The fact remains that if you find yourself in a field with two boys playing football and asking you to play, you will never back down! So that means you haven't lost momentum; simply that that push is no longer primary and necessary, indispensable, as it was before. Therefore, one side of your character continues to belong to you even though your personality no longer manifests it in the same way, with the same urgency and the same need as before.

These particular characteristics of the character - I repeat - are toned down, they are still present but they are less active than they were before; not only that, but they become a sort of "gift" available to the individual who, in case of necessity and need (perhaps to help others, to convince others to do something or to induce others by being an example, etc. .) can recall them, in order to implement them voluntarily. Therefore, what used to be an almost blind drive to gain experience in some way becomes instead a gift to be used usefully to possibly help oneself or others, mainly others.

D – There are some elements to be able to understand what is character and what is personality.

Eh, the elements are inherent in what we have said up to now! Character is something you can hardly change; the personality, on the other hand, is very changeable, just as the ego is changeable. The ego and the personality are closely linked; the character and the ego are not as closely linked as it may seem, as the ego is changeable as the personality is changeable, but the character is not changeable. If it is changeable, it is changeable only in fractions, in some small element; it is much more stable than what the ego can be and what the personality can be.

  1. Something analogous to the example given regarding soccer happened with writing. From a primary drive towards experience to a way of relating to the other which is activated when an impulse comes from the relationship.
