Character/Personality 5: The Character Drive [A14]

Q - Before the individual has a given understanding, the character could somehow block it, but once the individual has had the understanding, does this become a talent, a positivity?

It can be used consciously to try to use it in the best way.

D – We have to study this thing well…

You're right, it's an interesting thing: if you could really understand how he's changed, not yours personality, but your character over the years, you would know that you have a reserve of behaviors that you no longer use, which you would still be able to activate if you wanted, which could help you in certain moments, when perhaps you are unable to do something.

Then perhaps say: "Io but once I was able to do it, so I don't do it anymore because I understood but in this moment a behavior of that type would be useful to me and then I could also try to set it in motion, voluntarily this time and under my control, no longer in the wild».

[...] Q – Is my love for drawing and painting part of character? I think so, because it's something that has accompanied me since I was a child.

I would like to clarify one thing: the drive towards a certain thing – let's just put painting, as in the case of our friend – does not mean that she is a great painter, it means that she has this thrust! It's not to be mean to you, but I simply wanted you to understand that the fact that you have a certain drive by character does not immediately make you a Leonardo da Vinci! It means you have one predisposition for that kind of thing.

D – How do we ensure that the personality is able to express …

The answer is always the same. Let's say it in a lateral way, instead of in such a direct way: with the "know thyself". In order to be able to express oneself in the clearest possible way, it is necessary that there are no disturbing elements. In order for there to be no disturbing elements, the other thrusts must be lower.

For the other drives to be inferior it is necessary that there is a certain understanding, a certain awareness, so that that particular drive can emerge in the cleanest way; so you need to know yourself. Or it is necessary, at least, to have already reached a good point of evolution, so, even if you are not aware of it, you already know yourself enough to be able to let what truly belongs to yourself flow in the best possible way.

D - There is one aspect that still escapes me: when our personality fails to manifest the directives of our character then the ego comes into play, we hide out of the usual fear, so as not to face what we should face, this is why is the understanding still not strong enough for it to pass, why does the ego censor excessively?

There is a basic error in what you said, because it never happens that the personality does not manifest what our character suggests; at most it manifests it in a different way because it is modulated by what the ego is.

[...] You actually manifest your character, it's that you cover it so much of your personal instances coming from your personality and your ego, as well as instances coming from transient archetypes, which is no longer recognizable as a truly characteric part.

D – Character gives me a boost; Can my personality manifest this drive in two opposing ways? That is, can I manifest, starting from the same character drive, in one situation a specific expression of personality and in another a specific expression of personality, but which still start from the same drive? At that point, influenced by what?

Influenced, first of all, by the fact that we have simplified things a lot but they are not that simple; meanwhile the character drive, when it comes, it's never just one but they are lots of pushes; just as the results within the personality are many and varied.

Now, clearly, depending on what are the findings of this personality and what are the external, environmental and archetypal influences that influence the personality, there can be a different answer. And then, mainly, the answer can be different and conflicting depending on how much understanding there has been in the meantime.

D – Also, what role does my personality play in the moment I receive an external stimulus, so it's no longer a push of my character but is it something that maybe a person with whom I'm interacting at that moment does? Does the personality act as a filter, before my character reacts to that specific stimulus, or is it in a different way?

[…] You have this push coming from the outside, and what does it do? It affects first of all the most immediate part of you, the physical body, and then the physical part of your personality, because your personality is structured in part physical, part astral and part mental, obviously.

This is how it affects your personality, therefore it sets in motion the return from experience - the vibration that passes through the three transitory bodies, which are then the ones that give life to your manifestation in the physical world, therefore to your personality. They don't come to manifest within the character, they have no reason to manifest in the character, because the character is a thing that is only there to provide a trace, in reality the vibration continues on its path and returns up towards the akasic.

  1. Character provides a drive to experience, a sort of structural bias, which is activated and maintained by consciousness.
