"The best defense is attack" is one of the many sayings that popular wisdom has created to express particular situations, particular moments, in which an individual can find himself in the course of his existence.
In fact this saying actually got in sé a certain wisdom, so much so that it has been taken - more or less consciously - and used on the most varied occasions. This happens, for example, when - in order to remain within our sphere of competence - the members of the Circle read the words we address to them.
In fact, how else can we define the interpretation they use to interpret our words, if not an attack in order to defend themselves?
Of course, speaking of defense against a spiritual teaching may, at first glance, appear nonsense or even a completely stupid thing, but there are few things that are as frightening as the spiritual teaching within each person. a man who sees, through the words of the Masters, a change in himself which he cannot fully understand and which, precisely because of this lack of understanding, frightens.
What happens then? It happens that, rather than realizing and facing the things that the Masters or the Guides can personally say one by one to those who read the messages, (things that - as I said before - are frightening because they force you to observe your own behavior, to see their mistakes, to change their way of being, to admit to being wrong and wrong and all this, to an ordinary person, with a Io common, provokes resistance) the ego reacts in an attempt to defend itself from what it perceives as an aggression, verbal and spiritual, to its safety.
Of course, since those who read these messages usually declare that they want to follow a spiritual teaching, it is not possible, more often than not, to openly take sides against what is said in the message, as this would go against all common sense, against all logic and the ego, as much as it may be capable of the strangest things, is also so clever as to always manage, or almost always, to behave in an apparently logical way and therefore not to commit gaudy mistakes that would clearly betray it.
La defense reaction it does not manifest itself through direct hostility towards spiritual teaching, but it manifests itself indirectly, that is by receiving from the message (or pretending to receive from it) not what affects personally and directly one's intimate, but what with ease (and wanting to do so) it can be more conveniently attributed to the intimacy of others.
Thus, most of the time, reading the messages of the Guides of the Circle, a sentence is not noticed saying: "Here I recognize myself, this sentence could have been said for me and it hit the mark" but, almost always, it is detected: "This sentence fits perfectly for that member of the Circle, or for that other, it shows in full the mistakes that that person is making, it shows what that person should no longer do" and on and on and on, managing to find , with truly enviable psychological acumen, the defects of all the others in the words of the Masters who seem to make them clear, thus obtaining the result of not taking care of himself and not recognizing, therefore, his own mistakes.
This, creatures, is the typical and normal behavior of every person who possesses an ego that acts and reacts to stimuli that come from various parts and that seem to assail him.
Be aware of it! Be aware of this and try to be more projected towards yourself, do not care about what others do or do not do, do not bother to criticize the mistakes of others, because you cannot do it if you have not first understood and criticized your mistakes.
I, and with me all the other brothers who follow you and guide you, I truly beg you with intensity to try to do this if you are really interested in pursuing a better inner work for all of you, if you are really interested in changing what you feel is wrong. well, if you are interested in receiving from us ... because you see, creatures, almost all of you, you are here in our presence to receive; this is undeniable and humanly right.
However, try - as we often tell you - to follow a certain logic, a certain rationality, and logic and reason say that if you are here to receive, then you must do so. try to receive more and better.
This reason, this logic, leads to the consequence that you have to find a way to build a great job with our words, not so much by observing what others do or say but, mainly, by observing what you do and say.
To this discourse can be linked another theme that had been touched not so long ago, namely how is it possible change society.
If every man were asked this question they would get thousands of different answers including social, political, ideological changes and on and on; the most varied theories, the most varied ideas, the most varied utopias.
But, also in this perspective, what we have just said about the Circle is valid: if you want the Circle to be better and to give more, you must not try to change others, but you must first of all change yourself.
Likewise, if you wish society to be different, if you wish that men are no longer ready to fight, to kill themselves, to plunder themselves, to do everything ignominious against other men, you must first of all change yourselves, because only by changing yourself, one by one, you can get what you hope in your heart.
Our creatures, if only you have a minimum of love towards us, if you only believe in a small part in what we tell you, if only you feel even the slightest glimmer of faith in you, then we pray:
"Try to change yourselves so that the path not only yours, but also that of the Circle and of all humanity can change".

With the mind that tells you that you are not defending yourself, but simply avoiding falling into error. It's not easy.

I believe that it is discharged on others when you do not yet know yourself.
It has certainly happened to "download" on others, but much more I notice how much the teachings affect me. How much they seem written for me. Sometimes I am amazed, they seem written by my conscience so that my mind can also read and rationalize them, so that it can implement me to change. Even during OE, when a walking companion is exposed, it makes me think: "... but he is speaking FOR me."
I ask Roberto, can my analysis be a plausible analysis that somehow my conscience tries to communicate with the physical body? Based on what we have studied on the Knowledge that creates reality, the answer seems obvious to me. (maybe I went off topic, but I wanted to somehow hook this thought, here)
To Alberto: I would say that reality speaks of itself, but each of us extracts from it and makes up the succession of those accents, of those focuses that highlight the personal existential process.
Faced with a writing, or something said by others, we are struck by what is existentially useful to us, therefore we do not grasp the whole but the particular that can guide us, what at that moment we have the ears to hear.
