The symbol of the candle represents the whole individual from a graphic point of view: his material side (the candle) which joins his spiritual side (the flame).
So the candle reveals the complementariety between Lightness and Darkness – and not their opposition – both present in the inner man, that dissolve, little by little, the typical ambivalence of each element concerning the incarnate individual.
